My Story

Hello, I’m Lin Chen, the heart behind Lumina Wellbeing.

My journey began in Shanghai, China — a city of modern design and fast-paced life. Even as a child, I felt a deep disconnection amidst the concrete and glass. I longed for the lushness of nature, for a life woven with the rhythms of the earth. This longing eventually carried me across the ocean to Canada, where I found a deeper belonging in the natural world.

With a foundation in Biology, I began my career in Cancer Research, driven by a desire to support healing. Yet over time, I felt the limitations of the fragmented approach within Western medicine. Something in me yearned to explore the inner dimensions of healing — where body, mind, and spirit converge, and where our relationship with nature is inseparable from our own wellbeing.

This calling led me to yoga, Tai Chi, and Chinese medicine. These traditions opened doors to ancient wisdom that speaks to wholeness and harmony. They taught me that true healing begins with cultivating inner awareness, aligning with nature’s cycles, and remembering that we are but a small part of Mother Earth. Her wellbeing is our wellbeing.

At Lumina Wellbeing, I offer consultations and practices that help individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and begin their personal healing journeys. Whether through mindful movement, meditative practices, or nature-immersive experiences, my work is about guiding you back to the place where healing naturally unfolds.

Beyond individual work, I am devoted to community and the land. I am not just dreaming of change — I am actively collaborating with others to rewild our urban environments and create more wildlife habitats. In my own backyard, I’ve begun a food forest, and in my front yard, a small poultry farm — living examples of how urban spaces can be transformed into sanctuaries for both people and nature.

I hold a vision of a grassroots movement: neighbors planting native species, restoring ecosystems, supporting pollinators, and weaving together networks of backyard habitats. Together, we can cultivate living landscapes of healing and resilience — for ourselves, our communities, and the earth.

Thank you for being here. I invite you to explore, connect, and join me on this journey of awakening — for ourselves, for each other, and for the planet we call home.

With love and light,
Lin
